|Wow! is the only word to describe the measure of talent that showed up to audition for “So You Think You’ve Got Talent Collingwood” at Moguls Bar & Grill week after week. Since the end of July, we’ve seen an amazing number of talented individuals – and not just singers and musicians, but dancers and we even had a magician (he made the final 3). Close to a hundred performers came to strut their stuff in front of the packed audience at Moguls.|
I would be remiss if I didn’t make mention of the man behind “So You Think You’ve Got Talent Collingwood” – John Gabriele, of Gabriele Photography. John worked tirelessly through the 3 month audition process, encouraging contestants as they were about to audition and then comforting those who didn’t make the cut. John was also an unwavering rock of support during the semi-finals when we judges had the unenviable task of whittling down this incredible talent pool to 10 (in the end, we just couldn’t do it, so we wound up with 12). Taking that number down to just 3 was nearly impossible, but somehow, we managed it – and so, singers Naomi Houghton and Lisa Goodridge plus magician Sawyer Bullock are our 3 finalists. All three are supremely talented and consistently blew us away.
Thanks also go to my fellow judges – Selena Ree and Guy Beausoleil for making this experience an unforgettable one for me.
The ultimate showdown is Saturday November 27th at the Gayety Theatre (doors open at 6PM) when this years’ winner will finally be chosen by YOU! So make sure you get your tickets at Gabriele Photography on Hurontario Street in downtown Collingwood (705) 445 – 9030 or log onto the website for more details.
At the Gayety on November 27th, all 12 semi-finalists will perform, along with a special appearance by Collingwoods’ own Drew Wright, (his parents made the final 12) and that’ll be great fun, but I suspect that the audience will really be there to support and vote for their favourite finalist.
It’ll be a very tough choice. See you on the 27th.
