The Blue Mountain Village Foundation is pleased to announce that The 2015 Bob Comish Memorial Bursary for Georgian College will be given to Karleigh Muir for the continuation of her studies in Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation. For the photo opportunity, she was accompanied by Bryan Hunt Associate Dean of Georgian College and will receive $1,000 from Foundation board members; Bruce Melhuish and Stacy Manning.
"The Foundation initiated a new selection process for the Bob Comish Memorial Bursary and we are thrilled with the calibre of our successful candidate," says Stacy Manning Vice President of the Foundation. "We chose to support a second year student who has worked on the resort property and is continuing their education striving to complete their education."
"As a Georgian College student, current Collingwood resident and former employee of both Blue Mountain Resort and the Blue Mountain Village I am incredibly honoured to receive this award. Blue Mountain has been a huge part of my life from when I was young, riding the slopes to where I am now, starting my career (and of course still riding the slopes). I hope that I can do this award justice in the continuation of my studies and I cannot wait to start my next semester without student debt! Thank you to my friends at Blue Mountain for this wonderful Christmas gift!"
The Blue Mountain Village Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our local communities through its financial support of registered charitable organizations whose activities provide benefit to the residents of our local communities, with an emphasis on children and family programs. In addition, the Foundation awards 5 Bob Comish Memorial Bursaries to 4 local high school students and a student from Georgian College, who have worked on the resort property. Information about filing applications for funding and bursaries can be obtained at the Foundation website.
