What is the BMPCC? (Posted On: Tuesday, March 18, 2008)

The BMPCC stands for the BLUE MOUNTAIN POTTERY COLLECTORS CLUB. The club is a growing group of people who first got together in July, 2003 to share interest and information about the Canadian pottery we discovered and had decided to collect.

Since that day the Club has grown from 13 members to a group of about 85 – and is still growing with members from all over the world in such places as the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, the U.S. and, or course, Canada.

When asked why should a person join?  The question is answered by “We do it for the love of the pottery, the knowledge we share and the friends we make.”   For the most part the BMPCC is a social club that shares information, experiences and a passion for collecting Blue Mountain Pottery.  The club website is one of the central hubs for sharing.

This year, on May 2nd & 3rd, the Club will be holding it's 6th Annual Convention again in Collingwood at the Leisure Time Club. It will be open to the public (free) for pottery sales and appraisals on Saturday, May 3rd from 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Everyone is welcome and invited to come and join in the fun.

The Club also offers a list service in order for members to share information, get help with pottery identification and just keep in touch with each other. A newsletter that comes out about 4 times a year is included in the annual fee that is only $20.00 for a family membership.
The club’s first 2 conventions were held in Collingwood and the following 2 were held in Niagara Falls. Last year the club returned to Collingwood and at the convention guest speakers Denis Tupy (the first mould maker who later owned CCC Pottery of Canada) and Mr. Robert Blair (the last owner of Blue Mountain Pottery).
