On Saturday, June 27, Blue will presented the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation (CGMHF) with a cheque for over $80,000. This gift is just one part of Blue's overall support of the Hospital Foundation and this Saturday, CGMHF will be in the Blue Mountain Village celebrating the on-going partnership with a kick-off to summer.
"The core of our business focuses on getting outside and being active", says Tara Lovell, PR Manager at Blue Mountain Resort. "Supporting a thriving, local healthcare institution aligns with that focus."
Linda Caron, Event Coordinator for CGMHF, notes that this focus on health and well-being is one both Blue and the Hospital Foundation share. "We want people to get out and be a part of the activities offered at Blue. If they are getting outside and moving, they are maintaining their own health which hopefully means keeping them and their families out of the hospital." A timely message given Participaction's recent release of its 2015 Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth showing that the biggest risk to kids is keeping them indoors and not letting them play outside.
In addition to the 10 year pledge of $150,000, Blue has donated 600 Active Packs to sell with all of the proceeds going back to the Foundation. This year, the Active Packs sold out after only two weeks and raised an additional $15,000 for CGMHF.
Blue Mountain employees also support CGMHF as their charity of choice with their own charitable initiatives. Staff on the Resort organize various activities including 50/50 draws, BBQ fundraisers, and staff sales with all donations matched by Blue Mountain.
The current fundraising campaign is being used for to purchase cardiac monitors at the G&M Hospital. This is a vital tool used by medical staff to track the progress of a patients vital signs and is mostly used in the Emergency Department, ICU, in surgery and recovery.
"We are extremely grateful for the on-going support from Blue Mountain," says Caron. "This marks year four of a 10 year pledge and we look forward to celebrating this partnership on Saturday at Blue."
The Hospital Foundation will accept a cheque for over $80,000 from Blue Mountain Resort at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by a kick-off to summer with fun activities set up in the Blue Mountain Village.
