Hot August Nights Cool Down (Posted On: Friday, August 22, 2008)

Hot August nights naturally dovetail into cool autumn evenings and planning for back-to-school.  Adjustment time for sure, and for some this time of year represents an opportunity to re-fresh and take inventory.  For me…it means I get my phone line back from my kids and don’t get interrupted during my working day with chauffeur driven requests.  How exciting is that?  We have some new features to announce, like the very cool WasagaDome, new staff to introduce, plus links to major savings on your ski passes for this coming winter.

We would like to extend to Chris Stoutenburg, 30, who is a point guard for the Canadian Mens Wheelchair Basketball Team the very best wishes as he heads to Beijing, China to compete with his team during the Paralympics Games.  Chris and his team will be competing from 7th to the 16th of September.  CBC will have coverage of the games on the weekends.  Chris has been a member of the team for 9 years and they are ranked #1 going in.  Bring back the Gold!

We have a lot to celebrate at and some really great new announcements that we are very proud of.  Firstly, The Kimberley Seldon Design Group is opening up in Creemore and has chosen to represent them as their local on-line resource covering the Southern Georgian Bay area.  We couldn’t be more proud or be more honoured.  We are very excited about the line-up of decorating and design articles that Kimberley will be publishing on and also in Escarpment Magazine, one of our area’s most notable and popular lifestyle print options created and published by Deena Dolan, a very dedicated and creative individual.

We are pleased to announce our new Video Gallery featuring footage of some of the great events in and around the Georgian Triangle.  Just look for this button on our home page.  We’ve got 5 videos up right now including a few featuring Drew Wright.  Check out this article from the EB on January 18, 1994 about Drew Wright auditioning for the Georgian Triangle Community Youth Choir.

Have you had the opportunity to visit the WasagaDome?  If not, we strongly recommend it.  We have been to the Almost ABBA tribute and the Ignite Circus…both of which exceeded our expectations.  Check out our photos.  The Dome from the outside seems smaller than you would expect…then surprise and delight…on the inside it offers a generous seating capacity where every seat in the house has a great view.  The venue is licensed and the tickets are priced right to appeal to every budget.  What appeals to me most is the attention to detail to enhance the consumer experience.  So please check it out, make a point of visiting and support a new business endeavour in our community.

Since launching in December of 2005, we have enjoyed significant growth thanks to you…all of our website visitors…so thank you for that support.  It has been a long time coming, and about time that we have invited an advertising sales associate to be part of our team.  We are proud to introduce our new team member, Jessica Goodwin.  Jessie is a local…born and raised in Meaford, so that’s a plus.  She has a great understanding of the Internet, understands the ways that it can be used as an excellent and essential communication tool and most of all is enthusiastic about becoming part of the team.  She’s got great experience in the local business environment, and combined with her experience in marketing and sales…we are very pleased to announce her as part of our team and excited about having her on board.

This brings us to Fall…my favourite season, simply because it leads right into ski season.  Sounds premature to be thinking of that but now is the time you can get your early bird pricing with Blue Mountain.  Blue Mountain has made significant strides to make it easy for you to get your Season passes in advance and on-line…so check it out….you can even upload your own photo.

With that said, Summer is still not over and there are a lot of exciting and innovative options for you and your youngsters.  While the weather is still nice, you should make a point of visiting The Farmer’s Pantry in Clarksburg for some good old-fashioned fun.  Besides a huge array of pick-your-own apples, The Farmer’s Pantry has a petting farm with some very friendly residents just waiting to say hello, as well, it’s a great place to purchase fresh seasonal fruit and veggies, locally made gifts and a great assortment of baked goods from Blue Mountain Gourmet in Heathcote and some of the best jam I have ever tasted from Manitoulin Island where the owners have a summer cottage. My personal favourite is the Cranberry-Raspberry…on to my second jar this month.  Keep them in mind for Thanksgiving and Halloween where nature’s harvest will abound for sure. welcomes our new clients:

WasagaDome is a new, undeniably high-profile entertainment venue on the beautiful shores of Wasaga Beach. A building of striking, spherical design, it can be seen from across Georgian Bay. WasagaDome has plenty of room for 1000 spectators, and houses sound and lighting equipment for comedy, theatre, music and circus performances. The first 90-foot geodesic event dome in Canada and one of only eight in the world WasagaDome is “Ontario’s Premier Beachfront Entertainment Complex”.

Happy back to school shopping and don’t forget to support the local businesses…anything you can find in Barrie…you can find in Collingwood, well mostly…all of the important things anyways.
