Corus Radio Collingwood is pleased to celebrate a broadcasting milestone with morning man, John Nichols, who in February 2011, will celebrate his 40th year with 95.1 The Peak FM.

Longtime broadcaster and current morning drive host John Nichols has worked at CKCB since 1971 when The Morning Flight debuted.  A format flip to FM and four decades later, Nichols is still in the host’s chair,

entertaining and informing morning audiences in The Georgian Triangle.

“John Nichols’ remarkable years of service and continued community involvement has proven to be a success not only for him personally but the station’s as well, “ said Chris Pandoff, Executive Vice President and President, Corus Radio. “The community, and certainly Corus Entertainment, is proud of John’s accomplishments.”

“John’s 40 year achievement in the broadcasting industry as the voice of Collingwood has made him a true icon in the community,” said JJ Johnston, General Manager, Corus Radio Cornwall, Peterborough, Kingston, Barrie/Collingwood.  “He is a consummate professional on-air and a dedicated supporter of many local causes in Collingwood.”

“I don’t look upon my tenure at the station as a job … as a people person, I love the fact that I can help so many individuals, groups, organizations with what I do every morning,” said Nichols.  “The Georgian Triangle is without a doubt the best place in the world in which to live and play and I’ve been very fortunate to serve this community for 40 years.”

“We are not just celebrating John Nichols achievement of 40 years of great radio! We are celebrating John’s consistent dedication to his audience and our community both on and off the air,” said John Eaton, Operations Manager of 95.1 THE PEAK-FM.  

On the philanthropic front, John continues to lead the annual Christmas Draw which he introduced over 30 years ago and has raised over $600,000 for The General & Marine Hospital Foundation.  John has also won several prestigious awards including the Order of Collingwood and the Companion to the Order of Collingwood for his years of voluntarism. 

To celebrate John Nichol’s milestone anniversary, 95.1 The Peak FM will be hosting an on-air 40th Anniversary Breakfast on Friday, February 18, 2011 from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Olde Red Hen Restaurant in downtown Collingwood.  Community leaders as well as new and long-time listeners are invited to stop by to congratulate Nichols.  The station is also encouraging past colleagues to send audio clips of their best wishes to Derrick Scott, Program Director (
