|Come out and celebrate in beautiful and historic Downtown Collingwood for a three day - July 1st to 3rd, 2011 - Canadian themed extravaganza! The festival features plenty of great entertainment including music, children's activities, demonstrations, pancake breakfast and more! The patio season is open in our historic downtown and more than sixteen outdoor restaurant and café locations are now ready to enjoy!|
The fun begins on Friday July 1st. Starting at 11am, there will be musicians entertaining at various stations in the downtown core. Don't miss the Citizen Reaffirmation Ceremony and Gigantic Birthday Cake at the Federal building starting at Noon. Everyone is invited to reaffirm his or her Canadian Citizenship, receive a certificate and have a free piece of the birthday cake, which is generously donated by Loblaw Great Food. Elephant Thoughts will be setting up an awesome science tent in front of town hall for children of all ages between 1pm and 3pm. Jay Wilson and his puppet friends will be wandering around Downtown so make sure you say "Hi"! The fun and entertainments continues until 4pm.
Also on July 1st is the first annual Collingwood Idol, hosted by the Town of Collingwood. Pre-registration is required with Chris Stoutenburg, and only the first 40 applicants will be accepted.. The event itself starts at 2 pm, at the Amphitheatre on the Waterfront Promenade, with the final rounds scheduled to begin at 7pm. Not only will there be cash prizes, the winner gets to sing right before the fireworks which begin at 10 pm!
On Saturday July 2nd, the Collingwood Downtown Farmers' Market will be hosting the Canada Day Pancake Breakfast, which is sponsored by Greenbelt. Enjoy delicious pancakes, prepared by our Celebrity Chefs, while browsing the amazing array of vendors. Musician Barry Mutch will be playing from 10am-12pm.
As well, check out the new Artisan Market at the newly restored Tremont Hotel. It features local artists and artisans and is presented between 10am and 5pm.
Lastly, on Sunday July 3rd, look for Fleetwood Dance at Town Hall between 1pm and 2pm as they demonstrate their student's work! There will also be face painting at TD Bank, and other children's activities, as well as music at various locations downtown throughout the day. .
