Join us on Friday, February 23, 2007 as Blue Mountain hosts the first annual 12 Hours of Blue Ski & Snowboard Race. Due to unseasonably warm weather heading into our 2006/2007 ski and snowboard season, this event was rescheduled from January 26,2007. Sponsored by Dailies, Appleton Jamaica Rum, Mountain Life Magazine and Alpine Ontario, 12 Hours of Blue will test the endurance, athleticism and will of its participants, as they battle for 12 hours on the hills of Blue Mountain. Registration opens December 1, 2006; space is limited so don’t miss your chance!
Competitors will take on the course from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. During the race, only one team member will race at a time and the accumulative team distance will determine our winners. Spectators and supporters are welcome to cheer on athletes and take in this exciting day. Following the event, participants and spectators can enjoy great entertainment and a fantastic celebration at the 12 Hours of Blue après party.
The challenge has been made! Gather a group of 6-12 of your friends, family members, or business associates and register online at www.12hrsofblue.ca. As a team, raise a minimum of $500.00 in donations, which will go towards Alpine Ontario’s support of grassroots ski programs across Ontario. A $75.00 per team member registration fee will also apply. Teams can choose from 2 categories: General Participation, for those wishing to embrace the challenge in a less competitive environment and Performance, for athletes desiring the ultimate cardiovascular and advanced challenge.
Whether you’re an avid racer or a casual rider, this is your chance to compete for one of two trips to Jamaica, courtesy of Appleton Jamaica Rum. Incentive packages will also be awarded for teams who raise over $2 500 in donations. There is a maximum of 40 teams - so register your team online now and be a part of this new Blue Mountain tradition!
